From all over Europe, men and women made their way to Compostela to venerate the tomb of Saint James. The Liber Sancti Jacobi, or Codex Calixtinus, was copied in the 12th century and contains a rich repertoire of liturgical chants dedicated to the apostle, to accompany the joy of pilgrims who had finally reached the end of their long journey. Following in the footsteps of these tireless walkers, the singers of Discantus take the listener as far as the monastery of Montserrat - where songs dedicated to the Virgin were recorded in the famous Llibre Vermell.
