The influence of Gregorian chant is predominant, and from a simple melody springs a polyphony that develops and surprises. From four voices to double choir, this programme offers contrasts that renew listening.
Built around Francis Poulenc's Mass in G major, this programme absorbs us in the dazzling purity of a key that Messiaen associated with gold. Poulenc touches our hearts, allowing us to contemplate without filter the diamond that is French choral writing. Imbued with humility, this music is presented without ornament, and as is often the case with Poulenc, it speaks to the heart in a simple way.
The concert's work on spatialisation gives the audience an extraordinary experience of the purity of sound created by the great French masters of the twentieth century.
