Beethoven’s *Missa solemnis* for soloists, choir and orchestra was composed between 1818 and 1823 and premiered in its entirety on 7 April 1824. The interplay between the voices and the orchestra, together with an exceptionally rich instrumentation, lend this solemn mass – which Beethoven regarded as his most accomplished work – an unprecedented dramatic intensity. It will be brought to life by the sounds of period instruments played by the Cercle de l’Harmonie, conducted by Jérémie Rhorer.
